Our end of the year "Authentic Zoo" was a huge success. Students worked on creating life-sized animals and realistic habitats based on their research. Then, they acted as though they were real-life zoologist as parents toured our zoo, with informational presentations.

3rd Grade Enrichment students have been working to extend their understanding of place value by learning about the Egyptian and Mayan numerical systems. After completing some brain-building math tasks, students brainstormed ideas for creative, math-based Egyptian projects. Their level of creativity is AMAZING! Check out some of our pictures below and keep an eye on the walls of the WJES pyramid for some Egyptian Math projects... coming soon!

4th grade students began their Math Enrichment Fridays with a visit from a local Travel Planner. She shared about her job and students brainstormed what types of math a travel planner might have to do on a daily basis. Then, students were presented with a PBL in which they would work together to plan a vacation for a family. Students have to consider the family size, interests, budget and more as they research and plan. Students will present their "vacation package" to an audience which will include a 2nd visit from our community Travel Planner.
